Breast pumping is a skill that can be improved upon. Try these 5 breast pumping tips to pump more milk and make pumping more convenient.
#1. PUMP MORE OFTEN
Pumping more frequently will help to "empty the breast", triggering your body's response to make more milk. Milk Production is a supply and demand process. The more and quicker you empty your breast, the more milk your body will make!
#2. MAKE SURE BABY CAN LATCH
Without a full latch, your baby could be swallowing extra air (making them gassy or fussy), not getting enough milk, getting frustrated and refusing to eat. If you're experiencing any of these issues, seek help from a breastfeeding/lactation consultant.
#3. STAY HYDRATED
Make sure you're drinking enough water and liquids. Keep in mind that drinking extra will not help you make more milk. However, not staying hydrated can detour you from making enough!
#4. USE A GREAT PUMP
Make sure that you have a reliable breast pump. You want to choose a pump that will empty you as much as possible and last. Much better if the pump is portable like our Minuet
#5. MINIMIZE STRESS
Take care of yourself. Get rest when it's needed, eat more healthy and don't skip meals, and don't sweat the small stuff! Not only stressing over small issues can hinder your milk supply, but it's also not good for you in general.
